My philosophy

I have a deep connection to the right of passage of birth. I believe birth-support and birthing wisdom was common knowledge amongst all women, and intentionally share in a way where this will be the case once again.

I don’t quite know where it begun. My mum birthed us three children at home and called me into see my younger brothers birth when I was 9 years old. She works as a pregnancy photographer, and our living room doubles as her studio.

I am fortunate to gain many skills from people who are tapping into and continuing the ageless wisdom of birth. I see that the way in which we birth and are born impacts on our entire life and therefore our culture, our families and the world.

This is a humbling path, where the mother or birthing person is the one who knows most and I honour this. So really birth as an entity has carried me into the deepest learning.

  • Maya has been my dream doula! We both had a dream of my birth before it happened. And it happened just like the dreams. Peaceful, undisturbed and smooth. She arrived when my surges were so intense. Her voice and gentle touch on my shoulder calmed and grounded me.

After birth she was very caring and checking on me, baby and playing with my 2 girls. She even took them to the park. She did more than I could ever ask.

  • Maya came to me when I was four weeks in my postpartum. I was crying in my partners arms when she was carefully entering the space, offering just to hold me as well. After my hormonal rollercoaster and myself calmed down she gave me an intuitive shiatsu massage. I felt very held by her presence, calmness and softness. Her touch was firm enough to completely let go and surrender and soft enough to feel nurtured and caressed. Time passed way too quickly.
